I think humans were made to worship, but let me explain. People have been worshipping in different religions from the dawn of history. Outside of religion, people seem to worship the next viable alternative. Like politics, ideas, things, or themselves.

My pastor said once that everybody has a God. Your god might be the actual God, or the sports team you’re a fanatic about, or the alcohol you can’t stop drinking, or the political beliefs you center your life around, or whatever, but everyone has something in their life that they effectively worship. I 100% agree

read american gods by neil gaiman, worship and alternative “gods” of our modern age are a huge theme in the story and it’s super interesting

Totally agree! I believe God and an afterlife. I believe Jesus is my Lord and savior. Saving me from worshipping worthless things like alcohol, sports teams, or other people.

Absolutely. I fell into alcoholism and God is helping me back on the right path every day, and it’s helped me a lot to understand that we worship by nature like you said. Your energy, fears, preoccupations, obsessions, and ideas have to go somewhere. Giving them all to God saved me.
