How good is good? If you’re really new I can give some pointers👍, but I’m not a pro by a long shot 😅

I’m past the part of making my own leader lines and different rigs for the situation but suck ass on soft plastic set ups and beach fishing since I mostly do fresh water

Oh, yeah I’m no good at saltwater AT ALL 😅. (I’ve done it, but not much) I’ve never been a big fan of soft plastics either… though most people I know use them almost exclusively. I typically use stuff like rooster tails and crick-hoppers, but really it depends on what you’re trying to catch. (I usually end up catching a lot of brim, and occasionally some bass) Good luck though 👍

I mainly use cut bait with a dropper rig with a strong leader line for alligator gar

But want to get into the salt water area and try to catch a bull red

I wouldn’t know much about those, I’ve heard people mention seeing gars, but I think they’re pretty rare where I live. My brother caught a bull red one time unexpectedly😅. We were pretty excited about it. I believe he was using shrimp on the inner coastal water way (though I guess not everywhere is gonna have that) I’m not one to give tips for saltwater though. I find myself looking up tips for it every time I go to the beach.

Real I’m low south Texas so gar is everywhere the problem is finding good size ones and catching carp for them to eat as bait
