is it common courtesy to pay for a friend if you’re the one to invite them out? like it’s expected to pay for someone’s meal if you asked them out on a date, but is it the same with friendships?
I would say generally not unless there's a huge disparity in net worth or if you invited them out for a special occasion of theirs

not a common courtesy in the same way men paying for the first date is like “common knowledge” but a nice gesture depending on the relationship. Usually split the checks esp if they are uneven or go back and forth with who pays
