In terms of the Pythagorean theorem, I’ve always heard more advanced math classes are for teaching you to problem-solve and figure things out on your own, just like how English classes teach you to not take everything at face value and how to form arguments based on facts, and science classes teach you to seek answers and stay curious. I suppose the assumption is that life skills like taxes are taught through parents?

Much like Pythagoreans Theorem, learning taxes in high school wouldn’t matter since you’re not filing them till you’re an adult.
