I got a neoendocrine tumor in my left lung. I had surgery to remove it and am now cancer free. I lost half of my left lung. Feel free to ask me anything about that. The tumor itself was not painful. The collapsed lung and the pneumonia I kept getting over and over before we discovered it? Absolutely. The surgery was tough. It was a Thorocotomy, which means they cut your side/back and use a contraption to spread your ribs apart. Recovery from that was severe pain for about 12 weeks, then it calmed down rather quick. I have a seemingly permanent broken rib, which doesn’t hurt unless I move in a super awkward way or something.
