18 is LEGALLY GROWN. How many times does this need to be explained to you?

Depends, fresh 18 and still relying heavily on parents is very different from 21 & confident on their own. Be aware of your differences. Ask “will this create reliance for the 18yr old? Power for the 21yr old?” Make sure both people understand gaps in experience/maturity and are comfortable with them, and it’s not a codependency. Some 18yr olds are more confident/experienced in self-reliance. Life experience is the big factor.

But life experience doesn't always correlate to age...what if you're 21 and still reliant on your parents

The point exactly! 18 and 21 is such a weird age gap because life experience can be very close, or worlds apart. It just depends on where you’re at in life and what differences you’re both comfortable with… me and my partner had this age gap starting out (me being late 18) and I had lived on my own and had a professional career since I was 16. My partner has parents to fall back on and hasn’t lived fully alone… we make it work! Bc our age gap is balanced by different life experiences
