Does anyone else feel like hurt and pain is more real than happiness and joy?

more real in what sense. you are acknowledging all the feelings are real but those are more real somehow? i mean hurt and pain tend to linger and cut deeper, while happiness and joy tend to live in the moment and occasionally can be sparked when thinking back. if that’s what you mean, then i feel the same

Thanks . Just had that thought. Like it’s more prominent and stays longer. I dont get it.

But why doesn’t happiness linger longer and “cut deep”.

Like I’ve never had extreme happiness where I just want to scream. But I have had pain where I have screamed

i think because happiness and joy live more in the moment because you really have to just appreciate the good times but then you move on in life. unlike pain and hurt that often lingers because your mind learns from it or tries to understand it further, happiness doesn’t really need much understanding or teaches lessons.

i had a professor once tell me “our brains are wired to focus on threats more than treats” kind of a survival mentality thing
