I hate the lack of transparency about its use (is this video AI? Is AI writing this article? Is this platform using my content to train AI? etc) and therefore there isn't much potential for informed consent, which AI companies have expressed doesn't matter to them anyway. It's evident that without regulation on AI the concept of "teach kids how to think not what to think" is going to be lost in a generation, led by adults who are opting out of thinking.

If we're talking about generative AI, sucks for everything. It's unethical, unreliable, and just plain stupid. It annoys me to no end and while I think it COULD be helpful and is probably an inevitable progression of technology, it's in a horrible unusable state right now and I fear it'll be years until it's refined and regulated enough to be helpful instead of harmful.

I think people see its massive potential and so ignore all of the glaring issues with it. And also it’s equally massive potential for harm. It’s one of those thing where in a perfect world I would support it, but in this one it’s going to be used (and is being used) for very fucked up things and I hate it.

What are you using it every day for? People are becoming more reliant on AI when they just need to think a little. I get using it from time to time to help study, but everyday is excessive.

the tech itself is both unreliable and unethical, and the people who use it for everything are outsourcing their basic thinking to a computer

and this is specifically about my day to day life, not the environmental impacts or generating fucked up content which is definitely a thing people do
