 AITA for suggesting to my Mom that she keeps her phone calls with Male friends/person of interest private and not on speaker while we’re in the car together? Like suggesting she use a earbud or something? 😕

She got really offended and said if she doesn’t have a problem with it then I shouldn’t have a problem. Told her I wouldn’t define as a problem but just something I was suggesting but I guess since our boundaries are fucked up then she got upset😭

Totally reasonable. It’s weird to hear your mom goo gooing at some guy with you there. It should make her uncomfortable too

I mean I guess it depends on the convo? As in, I can understand the defensiveness from her if it was literally just a normal phone convo. If there was weird conversation like especially sexual content or jokes, like just keep that to urself idc if you’re comfortable sharing it that doesn’t mean I’m comfortable hearing it.

HOWEVER I do also think that if you’re genuinely that bothered by even a basic phone convo and you just tell her you’d appreciate not having to awkwardly sit there listening to a convo you’re not a part of, she should respect that even if she thinks it’s weird. Like if I tried to set that boundary w my mom and she answered a phone on the car’s speaker anyway, I’d open my car door and tuck n roll. Just to get my point across. I’ll literally jump out da car girly so respect me
