AITA for leaving my coworker stranded after she asked me to take her home (I told her I had plans and she always takes forever to come out after she clocks out)

Depends….need more context I feel like there’s some info missing here. Like what were the plans, why does she take awhile to come out, did she have anyone else to take her home, did she live far away, when did she ask etc. details are important in this case bc I feel like this is very grey 💀

you aren’t obligated to take anyone home. NTA

She’s very clumsy. She’s gotten in like 2 car accidents in the past 2 years, including crashing her daughter’s car.

Nah esp cause she wasn’t on time

I had plans to go to the fair that I already bought the non-refundable tickets to, and it was set to close 2 hours after we got out of work. She lives closer to work than I do, and she constantly takes her time to get out (talking to ppl, buying stuff from the store- we work in retail)

Plus she had made a sly dig at me to another coworker the other day and it really pissed me off.

Ah ok. Did she know your plans (like you had tickets and it closed x time?)? Cause I mean if she was taking her sweet ass time then yeah you were in the right to leave her that’s just rude.

She has I think 3 or 4 daughters. The one that lives w her is a brat who doesn’t want to pick up her mom sometimes bc she ‘has a life’ and she doesn’t want to “burden her daughter”

NAHHHH WHY DOES SHE NOT TAKE THE CAR????? If I did that to my mom she would whoop my ass and I would never drive a car AGAIN

Yeah she did. She asked me about 2 hours before our shifts ended. I told her ok but I need to leave quick bc I’m going to the fair.

….that isn’t clumsy that’s idiotic. You know maybe you were in the right.

To be fair she’s in her early 60s, has knee problems, but she is severely overweight, so that doesn’t help.

Yeah ur fine man. She just sounds inconsiderate to everyone around her especially after crashing her own daughter’s car.

Ok but that shouldn’t affect your driving that bad. My grandma is in her 60’s and had knee surgery and she doesn’t have trouble driving (despite persisting knee issues)

She is very very inconsiderate. It’s a long story but she is very needy and I’ve done more favors than she deserves.

Honestly she should just stop working and driving. She can barely walk and she can’t stand very long. It’s unfortunate that her daughters don’t get the hint and retire her.

Good for you for helping her out when you can.

Aw man :( someone maybe needs to have a talk with this woman about retiring? Maybe she hasn’t even thought about it? Idk.

I’m guessing she can’t afford to retire w her husband being sick. But she brags about having a house in another city so idk why she’s still here

First of all, why does any of that matter? Why do they need to know this information? You relented and agreed to give them rides, but they're still operating on your time… there's no reason to explain yourself.

I did hurry up out of there as fast as I could, but she knew damn well I had plans, and she was still talking to the supervisor, so unnecessary given that she was off the clock 🙄
