Are you stupid? Like, genuinely. He wanted the capitol protected but was denied. Where was Biden when hurricane Helene ravaged my area? I had to personally contact people that I knew in the army to airlift us out of our town as there were no roads out. Nobody wants to talk about when Biden wasn’t there and when Biden didn’t send help.
It’s a rare occurrence, but it looks like there are a lot of Trumpers here in the replies. Friendly neighborhood sh*tlib is here to help: - Re: Jan 6 - Trump spent months planting seeds of doubt about the 2020 election and inflaming his supporters. He said that Jan 6 “will be wild” for a reason, and pardoned the Jan 6 rioters for a reason. The summer 2020 riots were bad, but that doesn’t distract from Jan 6 being bad too
Bc they would have to take accountability for voting in a senile old man and a crazy woman who tanked our country and betrayed the people they “swore” to protect. Listening to and accepting cold hard facts isn’t a strong suit for these people. I’m so sorry the aid you and your neighbors needed wasn’t there and I’m sorry people like this caused that to happen.
- Re: Helene - yeah, it’s hard to defend Biden for not acting here. However an in-person visit would’ve only tied up resources. Trump also denied Helene aid to NC (granted, they were asking for 100% so maybe that’s too much?). I’m sorry that the people of NC weren’t given aid. Trump also left KY and other states waiting for disaster aid (he eventually approved it though)
The Speaker of the House has no authority over the national guard as they are solely a part of the legislative branch, however the president does as they are commander in chief and therefore the highest officer if all armed forces. You should try to research your asinine claim before making a fool of yourself and spreading disinformation.
I did, however my point still stands that, while the Speaker may have influence over the the security of the capitol, they have no jurisdiction to deploy or prevent the deployment if the national guard, meaning that Trump could have ordered them there regardless of what nancy pelosi may have said. Please provide evidence that the Speaker has direct control over the national guard and then you can fake kindness when trying to argue
I’m sorry you mean Biden who declared it a disaster and said FEMA will cover 100% but your governor asked for an extension and FEMA said no you get 90%, meaning NC has to cover 10%. I don’t see how that’s unfair also a president shouldn’t go to a weather ravaged area immediately after, it does delay efforts because now security measures have to taken into account for potus. It took Bush 5 days to visit after Katrina took Biden 4 after Helene and Katrina was way worse.
Gosh, I don’t know - I think it’s possible that #8 might have a point from a constitutional perspective. If I’m understanding things right, the Speaker of the House doesn’t quite have the authority to deploy or deny the National Guard. I think that responsibility appears to fall to the executive branch - so, in this case, Mr. Trump.
Of course, there’s always room to critique how security was handled! It just seems like Ms. Pelosi has taken some accountability - but unless I missed something, Mr. Trump hasn’t to nearly the same extent, despite having had a good bit more power in this situation. I do find myself questioning the motive behind placing so much blame on Ms. Pelosi for the Guard’s delay, when Mr. Trump appears to have held the actual authority and chose not to act quickly. This isn’t meant to be hostile! 🤘
Except he did act quickly about it by immediately requesting extra security, to which he was told “well now we’re gonna wait a bit bc we don’t think that’s necessary” by multiple people. While Pelosi was not in direct charge of troops, she was asked to spread the word about getting more security, and chose to ignore that. https://cha.house.gov/2024/9/loudermilk-highlights-dod-ig-report-flaws-sets-the-record-straight-on-january-6-2021-national-guard-delay
