aita for being mad at my bf for never believing the girl in any “controversial” sa or grape cases, and always being up some random one off football player who got falsely accused, and believes all the girls just lie.

False accusations will never ruin a man’s life and we know that for a fact because over and over again we’ve seen accusations that turned out to be true and the men end up with a slap on the wrist and go about their lives just at fine

Y'all tripping, just be honest with him and be straight to the point. No need to dump him over what people over the internet are saying. A lot of these girls giving you advice are single or in terrible relationships. Also he has his opinions and you have yours they are opinions for a reason everyone deserves them.

yea i think honestly you have to be firm with yourself and your values and if he isn’t aligning with them it might be worth it to leave. the thing is i know it’s hard to leave when they’ve shown you so much love in other ways, but believe me you want someone who sides with survivors of SA etc because it shows compassion, humanity, and it’s a telling sign of someone who will protect your boundaries when it comes to intimacy

He knows my values as I am very feminist and left leaning, and proceeds to use that in the argument saying whatever his opinion is on any topics that contain gender is just wrong beacuse it’s not my opinion, he also say he believes that sa obv wrong on all cases, however his first instinct is to look at what could put her at fault or that she consented previously, and always bring up ppl falsely accused. And now he’s upset with me because i’m still mad at him and it’s been 3 hrs fighting

i’m sorry this is happening to you. i feel like there’s a clear clash in values here. we all know that in cases there have been ppl who are falsely accused, but people defaulting to that is why many women don’t want to speak up about their experiences. i’d say if you’re set on staying w him and have been w him for a while already you’d really have to grill him on his outlook on things, and if not then consider leaving and finding someone else (eventually) who aligns with your outlook

Dudes first instinct is to have faith in the accused when more often than not these cases are genuine SA.

not feeling qualified to decide who is telling the truth is a valid opinion, jumping to always accuse someone of lying for claiming they were assaulted because "all women lie" is not a valid opinion. OP has tried to voice their concern about it to the bf, and it resulted in a multi-hour long argument. Saying all people who have distaste for this grown ass man making heartless statements to his partner are "single women or in terrible relationships" is peabrain behavior.
