okokok update we had a very real conversation today & are gonna make a concerted effort to properly take care of her & if in a week we can’t both be on top of it then we’re going to rehome her

You could threaten to have her pay for all the damages. Carpet, bed sheets, etc anything that dog’s broken. I love dogs personally so this saddens me. An apartment is no place for any large animal imo (with some cats being an exception, temperament plays a huge role).

destroyed everything in the house. and i have cats, so i have to keep my door cracked. she does not have the cats, so she can keep the door shut. so naturally my room has become the potty room when i am not home. the 50lb 7mo puppy has no crate, so she has shredded our bathroom. let me clarify i LOVE my roommate and i think the dog is cute. i have consistently for the last month reminded her that her dog has more energy than both of us combined and needs more attention than a toddler. it always

turns into a point of contention but idc. this dog is built for cattle & she treats it like a chihuahua. i send her articles, tiktok’s, i take the dog myself. all these things & nothing is changing. again, i love her. i wouldn’t want to go for 4, 1mile walks a day either, that’s why i have cats. i’ve told her a few weeks ago we need to get into a strict routine with her or rehome her and NOTHING has changed.

i think we really could make it work if she kept up with walks, playtime, enrichment, & training. an apt isn’t ideal especially for a large puppy but it definitely is not doable with a large puppy that isn’t given the outlets for her energy

Honestly I agree, you probably could. It’s more the question of if she has the time to put in the effort though. If she doesn’t, I think she should reconsider the situation.
