AITA for being pissed and refusing to take pictures at my graduation after the person announcing names said mine completely wrong? I felt like my one moment was stolen from me and I was too upset to pose. My mom is pissed and said I ruined it for everyone

your name got pronounced wrong so that prevents you from celebrating this massive achievement? from the sounds of it you acted like a baby.

I feel like you’re not TAH for feeling pissed at the school, but as you said, you “refused to take pictures” after because you were so mad, which I felt may have been unnecessary. You and your family were all justifiably pissed, but I feel like you all could have bonded over taking some nice pictures despite the school’s poor behavior. Your mom def understands why you’re upset, but she might think you handled your anger inappropriately and I think she’s also justified in being upset

Oh boohoo, take your grad pics fuck nuts. It’s your graduation and all but it’s also your family’s event bc they want to support you and they’re proud of you. “My one moment was stolen from me” 😱get a grip on reality fr

the people in this yak are so strange. like obviously there's nothing you can do about it now and there's nothing wrong with being upset about it? your mom should be more considerate of your feelings imo

No they said an entirely different name than mine (ex Charlotte instead of Sophia).

many people don’t care about graduation cus in reality all it is is walking across a stage. that wasn’t really a major life defining moment, it just is a symbol for getting thru college which was the life defining moment.

That’s a good point. It just really hurt. My family didn’t even cheer or take pics because they thought it was someone else. 4 hour ceremony and I didn’t even get my name read.

why did u continue the walk tho so weird that they said a whole dif name :/ at the end of the day you’re done with the school bs 😭 but yeah that’s insane at least you did actually graduate tho congratulations! And yeah no ur mom shouldn’t be mad at you for not “posing” lmao. You have the right to be upset and your feeling are valid just make sure that you don’t take it out on anyone tho… it could be annoying to have your mom pissebut def don’t take the mom thing personally 😭

By the time they said it I was past the woman announcing and going back would have ruined the next person’s announcement so I just kept walking barely holding back tears.

That’s a good point. Honestly I was trying so hard not to start crying that the thought of endless pictures and smiling and trying to make it look genuine sounded like hell. But I probably should have tried to be a mature adult about it.
