okay update: we had a crafts night instead and i told her what’s been going on and it actually wasn’t as bad as i expected, she was understanding thanks for the advice everyone!

I don’t think she understands what it’s like to have so little money. You may want to talk to her. If she doesn’t mind tho maybe you could do something small instead like a hike or picnic.

Agree with 4, you might have to be a little more direct/clear about your money situation so she fully understands why you can’t afford it right now, but either way try to do something for free because I don’t think cancelling the date is necessary/will be helpful in making your case
