I think the hatred of swifties stems from the fact that they still think what they’re doing is counter-cultural. Dawg she is engaged to an athlete her transformation to cheer captain is almost complete. Your ass is NOT on the bleachers anymore king

The Grateful Dead fans have been following the band from town to town for 60 years. They’re not doing anything new.

I’m a swiftie and I do agree with this, I don’t think her music is objectively special or anything but I like it.

Hippies know how to chill and enjoy the moment when others may record videos of each song to their friends. I have seen one band 33 times. They’re incredible, but I keep to myself since it’s not everyone’s favorite band.

I think the dead has a lot less liability for cults of personality than TSwift, because she named her band after herself and they have a bunch of rotating members if I remember right

Of course it’s not new but I think people are realizing the parasocial relationships are more harmful than people have realized in the past and that’s why people hate especially since 90% of girls will shove it in your face. Grateful Dead (might just be who I’m friends with) isn’t shoved down my throat the way Taylor is from friends with all different backgrounds. People take it as hate, but I don’t think they realize most of it is just bluntly calling out weird the parasocial relationships

When she was wearing sneakers on the bleachers, duh. You Belong With Me, despite being a fire song, is a pick-me anthem, and I’d argue pick-meism is like self-diagnosed counterculturalism. Which makes what you’re saying a really good point fr. So the answer is never unless you’re asking swifties
