So I'm looking for a new job and my mom told me to talk to this one woman because she's desperately hiring. I'm not because I used to go to school with her son who was pretty homophobic towards me in the high school. AITA for not even looking into it?

Like I need a job, and this would fast track me into a job I want but even if she told my mom the job is mine if I apply, I don't want to work for someone with the values I remember her and her family having. I don't care if she doesn't care that I'm gay now, I care that at one point in time she didn't care enough to get her son to stop bullying me.

You’re judging this woman just as much as her son judged you. You have no idea how she perceives your sexuality. We also both know full well that a mother telling her child to stop doing something doesn’t necessarily mean they will.

It just depends on whether you want to put your feelings about them aside for the job or not. If you don’t think you’ll regret it later then no

If her son is like that, so is she. That behavior was taught to him. Keep looking for a new position where the staff will treat you with kindness and acceptance.

She told my mom that if I didn't want to be treated badly I shouldn't choose to be gay...

And this was said only 5 years ago. She told my mom that a 15 year old deserved to be bullied because I'm gay
