My friend just had a baby boy. I signed up for the meal train to bring him and his wife dinner. Yesterday I got a long text about how I can’t stay more than 2 minutes and won’t hold the baby so don’t ask. Continued in comments

Even though I wouldn’t have asked or even wanted to hold the baby or stay longer than to just say hello and congratulations I understand having to set clear boundaries to protect the baby. I just can’t help but feel a little under-appreciated. Like how about thank you? They didn’t say thank you once and it just felt a little condescending to be talked down to like you felt the need to make it clear you don’t want to spend more than 2 minutes with me when I’m trying to do something nice. AITA?

nta ur not wrong for wanting appreciation but I wouldn’t take it too personally. having a newborn is insanely difficult, it probably wasn’t intentional and they didn’t pay enough attention to the tone of their message

So they just posted photos of everyone that visited the baby, a bunch of which I know visited before I did and they’re holding the baby in the photos. I didn’t want to hold the baby, but definitely very clear they don’t consider me a close friend or a friend at all. Tough way to find out.
