You ever have to live in an area where those people predominantly live and experience having to watch over your shoulder constantly and dealing with constant shenanigans like your car being broken into, stray bullets flying in Your home ect?. I grew up in south side Chicago, so yes, I do know. And I know nobody deserves to live that kind of life, live with that kind of fear. But to generalize a group of people doesn’t help either. High crime areas statistically have to do more with poverty, lack of education, systemic inequality, and policies like redlining more so than race. I get it, it’s easy to dismiss uncomfortable conversations by saying I’m just doing this to feel good. But I’m doing this because I’ve witnessed how it hurts.
