I started dating my roommate and gave her one of my fish tanks but said I wanted to keep some of the decoration. We broke up but still live together. AITA if I end up taking it back when I move out

I just figured out how I wanted to say this: In any relationship, gifts should not be given on the basis of staying together or remaining friends. Gifts should always be given on the basis of truly caring for that person, regardless of the outcome.

But it’s not a gift. The fish tank was but I have always said I wanted some of the decoration and didn’t get a chance to move it before we broke up. I agree I would never take something that’s a gift
