I genuinely think my mother has some memory issue, because she keeps repeating stuff she said 30 minutes ago, or the day before, multiple times over.

it's a tough realization to have about your parents, but you need to have a serious sit down conversation with them about it. plan talking pts with siblings and other ppl in the house dont brush it off cause youre too busy or think $ is a barrier

That’s sad but also what does that have to do with AITA

Well, she told me what she got at the grocery store to make her dinner, we’re eating, and 30 minutes later she tells me what she got at the grocery store… “Mom, you told me that already.” “Oh, I did?”

She’s like, 57, though. I could be overthinking, but it’s starting to get to me.

Literally the exact same thing except my mom gets pissed and starts yelling at me when I tell her she already told me

getting a diagnosis is the first step to slowing down/halting whatever ailments, and u know how long booking a doctor appointment takes... please, sooner rather than later

I don’t have any siblings, but I’ve tried talking to her about this. She’s self-centered.

this might be borderline insane to pull off, but i feel like the only way for her to accept her condition is to record memos of convos to try to catch her repeating things then edit down and compile them all over a span of days to show how often it is

my only other solution is to tally up a count of how many times she repeats in a day like on a whiteboard in the kitchen or other common area

It’s only like a few times a day. But it’s noticeable.

Idk if this made me an asshole or not.

For noticing? I would say not. Maybe see if you can gently persuade her to see a doctor. Otherwise see if you yourself could talk to a doctor or caretaker. Even without medical treatments there are things that can be done to help with memory loss. I had to do the same with my grandfather.

That doesn’t really affect anything that I said. You should still try to get her to go to a doctor.
