For telling my gf that my parents wanted to spend valentines day with me because they are leaving for a 4month vacation the next day I at least got her gifts and said we could spend the day together before or after v day. And she still got mad at me.

Eh, kinda ta? But not at the same time. Need more details. Did you tell her this well in advance? Did she agree to it then? Could you have spent a few days with your parents before vday to spend the actual day with her instead?

I told her the week before v day that my parents might want to hang out the day before they leave and that just so happened to be the day of v day. I didnt confirm it til 2 days before i wasnt going to see her but we can do dinner sunday but i still went out my way to get her flowers chocolate and gifts on friday but she said i didnt put in any effort. Keep in mind i was running errands for my parents and also working that whole week.

Fuck that shit, you’re not an asshole. She’s getting mad about your parents wanting to be with their child before they embark on their journey away!, c’mon, be forreal! That’s selfish and childlike. Next it’s gonna be you didn’t wanna go trick-or-treating and she fuss about not gettin’ any candy……This is with all due respect btw.

Okay yeah def nta. Sometimes adult life doesn’t work like that. You have to spend celebrate an anniversary or birthday or holiday on another day. It works like that sometimes. She needs to realize that and get off her high horse. You did buy her things that’s effort. Making plans for another day is effort
