WIBTA if I didn’t share my cookware with my housemates? I have food allergies and am sensitive to cross-contact. Is it reasonable to have my own stuff and not let them use it in case they don’t clean it well enough? Or is that too distrustful?

NTA, your health comes over whatever marginal increase in convenience they would get

Absolutely would not be an asshole. Your safety and well-being comes first! Your stuff is your stuff as well. You don’t have to share it anyways.

Is the cookware dishwasher safe? You could mandate if they use it it has to go in the dishwasher. One thing to think about is they’ll probably use it anyway, just not tell you about it. So maybe better to try to find a compromise

If your allergy is food sensitive then it’s not such a big deal… if you’ve anaphylactic reaction then NTA! Protect yourself!

that’s totally valid. your health comes first and if they’re not considerate of that then that’s on them. you’re never the asshole for trying to prevent cross contamination

NTA I’ve seen several allergy families have plates/pots that are specifically allergen free. It’s a normal precaution and not untrustworthy. Allergens can stay on the plate even if they are washed well. Keep your cookware in your room if you’re scared they’ll use it anyways after you ask them not to.

I think it would still get affected due to cross-contact from foods that OP is allergic to
