Understandable but also, if he’s not ready to leave his family or is every going to, you are either going to have to learn to deal with them or understand the relationship is over. If you make it between you and them, he may choose them. And if he chooses you it will just breed resentment that will kill the relationship anyway. If he hasn’t decided to excommunicate them or limit his contact on his own, and you can’t spend the time with them he wants, the relationship is doomed

I’m not insinuating he should pick them or me, when he’s in an enmeshed family it’s impossible to leave. also, we’re both in college so he’s not living at home but rhey still find a way to be annoying even from afar.

I’m not saying you are now, but you will very likely want it eventually. Or he will demand you have to spend time with them, which you do need to if they’re a part of his life. You refusing to see them is a form of making him choose
