My friends bf offered to drive my car and I said yes, we got pulled over and he got an expired inspection ticket. My friend says she no longer wants to be my friend because I shouldn’t have let him drive my car. I feel so stupid

i mean it’s not your fault because how did you know that was gonna happen and whenever you drive someone else’s car there is a huge risk taken. if it was something that could’ve been done prior to prevent the ticket just pay as much of the ticket as you can if possible and apologize. i really don’t think this is worth a friendship break up

Courtesy would be to let the borrower know about the expired tag prior to the use of the vehicle. It’s an innocent mistake I suppose, if you didn’t even realize it was expired and you’ve been driving it around as well, and at least you could say you didn’t put anyone at any greater risk than you yourself were talking during that time since the expiration. …however, one of the biggest ways people get picked up for drunk driving and for drug possession is because first they get noticed for the expired tag. And then they make one little mistake, whether it’s slightly speeding or barely rolling through a stop sign at 1 mph without a complete stop or whatever the officer can get for probable cause to say they suspected intoxication before the stop. So, in some circles it’s considered a big deal if you don’t keep your registration current.
