strangers die everyday and we aren’t obligated to feel sympathy, it’s true. however i think it is important to recognize that Kirk was killed for really nothing more than his political beliefs and what he stood for as an individual. he held no elective/political power and was just as free as anyone of us to speak out for what he believed in - and he was killed for it. i think that’s the part that elicits a lot of sympathy, heartbreak, and fear for this country as a whole
