For not appreciating my friend's gift? I feel really bad but yesterday was my b-day and my friend gave me a whole cacao pod... Don't get me wrong I love chocolate but I don't know how to make it from scratch. I can barely temper chocolate ๐Ÿ˜…

NTA sounds like your friend got too excited about their camp experience and forgot to give you a gift that aligns more with your interests than his. classic rookie mistake. lol i think its goofy and if otherwise he's a generally good and thoughtful friend i wouldnt take it too personally. do whatever you want with the pod, if he follows up with you about it i would just be like "ohhh yeahhh it was sooo delicious!" (with a smile and internal ๐Ÿซช๐Ÿ˜…goin on) idk thats just what i would do.

I think it's normal to feel disappointed from something like that, I think your friend overly meshed their interests with yours in an honest mistake. If you want to salvage it you can always ask your friend to come over and make the chocolate with you! Otherwise I'd just lie and say it was great if they ever bring it up again lol

For some context, he spent the entire summer learning how to make chocolate from scratch at some chocolatetier camp or something?? Idk. And when he gave me my gift he said it's because I love to make things from scratch. Which isn't entirely true, it's just that I make BREAD from scratch. Like I'll make my own pizza dough but I'm still buying the toppings. Anyways he's mad now because I didn't seem too excited which is true. I just don't really want to make chocolate from scratch.

No, he literally told me that it's for me to make into chocolate. Sent me a recipe and all

I guess but I honestly just don't see the joy in making it from scratch. It's not the kind of baking I enjoy. Fermentation is gonna take at least 2 weeks and it'll be at least another week just to make it after that. I know bread takes awhile to make but a 4 hour rise is a lot better than a 2 week fermentation
