Autistic children can learn when things are appropriate or not. It’s perfectly fine to tell them no. I mean, she wouldn’t let him play in traffic if he was obsessed with speeding cars, would she? Does he go to school? If so, this is something maybe she should talk to his teachers about so that they can help her learn strategies for redirection.

autistic children also need to learn boundaries and what is appropriate and what is not. it’s unfair to that child’s development when they already have a harder time understanding social norms to enable this kind of behavior and chalk it up to “it’s just his autism.”
