am i an asshole if i get super anxious when im in the passenger seat and someone who is bad at parallel parking insists on doing it when i could get it done in 15 seconds? it just annoys me when they make me sit there for 10 mins instead of accepting help

YTA, you’re just supporting learned helplessness. They’ll never get better if they don’t keep trying and practicing. As long as they are not hurting anyone or putting someone in danger, and simply just being annoying, it’s best to just let them try on their own

Just to reiterate, YTA, because not everyone wants someone else to just drive their car or park for them. It’s also a little condescending or at least that’s how I’d perceive it if someone said that to me while I’m trying my best. If you get anxious just get out of the car before they park then or use your phone in a manner that doesn’t show you’re anxious.

yeah i figured i was the asshole but also whats stopping them from practicing on their own? i learned because i practiced by myself and i didn't subject other people to my inability. also you literally cant have a license without being able to do it correctly idk how they get away with it

I don’t know if that's true, where I got my license I did not have to Parallel park to pass the test.

wait what? i live in maine i had to parallel park and then reverse the car like 50+ ft in a straight line in order to get mine 😭

I’ve literally never had to parallel park in my life, there’s no reason for it to have been on my drivers test

i guess where i live its more important to know. lots of my friends have apartments where you have to parallel park and in the city is mainly parallel parking
