Sometimes I wish my girlfriend took fitness as seriously as I do. I love her the way she is so much but it’s fun to have a goal with her and I wish she would go to the gym with me more often. Am I the asshole?

Ehh not necessarily what if she likes a different type of workout. I know my girlfriend isn’t vested into weightlifting like I am, but she loves group fitness classes like cycling, Pilates, dance and running groups. You can’t force someone to be into a type of fitness that’s not for them.

I’d say make an effort to start viewing goals differently. It’s more effective to make a goal together like “go to the gym three times a week for an hour” than “lose weight.” If you want her to join you at a goal, make it one that’s directly achievable.

No. Encourage her to join you and be nice about it and i bet she’ll start taking it more seriously

I guess that’s why I get self conscious bc she will tell me “hey I’d like to go with you and be more active to lose weight” and I’m like ok awesome great i love when you come and the sessions are good but then she will have bad eating habits which is again fine by me but I feel confused bc I’m trying to help her reach her goal and I feel like I can’t say anything bc I don’t want to say the wrong thing bc I know how bad body dysmorphia can be and don’t want do perpetuate it

I guess tldr I get nervous bc I love when she joins me but I don’t want her to feel like she’s doing it to appease me if it’s not important to her. I love her

Well that’s when you gotta ask her and get her to open up about what kinda things in the sessions does she like to do and see if there would be another type of workout that would better suit her that she could stay consistent with. As for food I can’t help, my girlfriend meal preps most of our food and then she makes me cook with her which I lowkey kinda enjoy unless you want to start trying that to curb bad eating habits.

Honestly that sounds like a lovely idea she loves to cook (high key a better cook than me) so I feel like that would be fun. You’re right thanks for the advice #2

I didn’t even eat peppers, onions or anything green, very few fruits before I met her, she’s an amazing cook and the cooking together works in every of aspect of enjoying the little things, intimacy and bonding. Happy to help man, hope it works.

I like this and it’s also how I made the gym go from a chore to an actual hobby
