Exactly, real life isn’t a sketch comedy show, if you do “racism but it’s ironic” then that’s just racism coming out of your mouth, it’s not like you’re doing a sketch where you play a racist character who’s obviously the butt of the joke, which is where Ironic Racism can in fact be funny. Like the Clayton Bigsby sketch by Chappelle, Bigsby is a character and Chappelle is black, so you know the sketch clearly isn’t racist, the whole joke is that Bigsby is stupid.
For racism to be a funny topic in humor, which it can be, the butt of the joke has to be the racist, not the victims. I think that’s where a lot of edgy white dudes trying to do racism as a topic of comedy fail, even if they aren’t necessarily bigoted themselves they don’t have the kind of familiarity with the topic to make a good joke about it.
even if the person was being sarcastic and meant in as a joke OP still has a right not find it funny. Also it doesn't make the joke less offensive. He literally wishing he could buy and own her like she's a piece of property. you're right different people have different senses of humor but usually people who don't see anything wrong with this and find it funny, also don't see anything wrong with just straight up bigotry. Colton might as well have said the n word.
