I get what you’re saying but I don’t think the joke would hit the same. Women do shit on men all the time but a lot of the ones who do are happy being single and having emotional connections with friends instead

Yeah. So like… I guess there’d be backlash if it was the other way around?? But objectively the joke just wouldn’t be as funny. Single women (generally) aren’t lonely and don’t complain about it so it wouldn’t land the same

The great thing is comedy is subjective!!! You’re entitled to not find it funny. But dismissing it based on a broad generalization about women’s emotional experiences doesn’t make it less valid, it only weakens the argument. Loneliness isn’t exclusive to one gender, and pretending it is doesn’t suddenly make the reverse joke impossible. Men generally are not lonely and don’t complain about it either… which sounds absurd, because broad emotional stereotypes usually are.

its not saying all men insult women, i think this post is just about the men who do insult women & then talk about a loneliness epidemic

i’m a woman and i completely agree w #12. if men did this about women they would be crying and throwing a fit but it’s apparently ok if a woman does it to men. that’s not ok

I wonder where this meme comes from. Somebody drew this cartoon panel for something Know your meme probably has a write up about it

There’s a difference between banter that is consensual and true insults, a distinction you seem to already understand by using the word “banter” instead of another term.

i feel like this person would consider it insults…it’s thresholds that differ from person to person. like if you overheard a convo in public you’d probably think we are bullying one another 😂

Context matters. And that includes the reaction of the person who is the target of the banter or insult and the tone of the one making it. I have banter with my friends that would be taken as an insult if it was coming from someone not in the friend group. And I could probably tell it wasn’t bullying, I’m pretty good at picking up this context.

disagree…if someone is too soft or gets upset by comments, then those people are simply not meant for one another as their humor doesn’t align

it's an individual. there's no commentary besides his monologue about his choices. this is very clearly talking about a specific type of man. i am not confident you know the meaning of the word "generalization"

i literally just described the post 😂 the original meme is old and it's a template for somebody who self sabotages. i'm simply describing its meaning in this context. this post is about men who self sabotage their romance by being insufferable idk where you're getting this idea that i'm "crossed" (are you british?) i think the people who are crossed are the ones downvoting me
