I’m quitting my first job out of college bc my boss sucks after only 6 months. I just said I’m switching to a related field and I might see my coworkers or other managers in the future. I’m worried that I’m burning a bridge and will be blacklisted

Most people hop around jobs fresh out of college. It doesn’t look bad, it looks good that you’re trying to find your place. And it gives you variance to your experience. Also, just use somebody who’s not your boss as your reference. No bridges burnt

Engineer here. My professors told me that it actually look good if you move between jobs often right after graduating, because you are learning different things and trying to find your place. Legally, your boss can not speak bad about you on a reference call. They can basically only answer the question “would you hire them again?”

Lmao I would have said this boss sucks. When my boss asked why I was applying i wanted to say “you” but I don’t have the balls too

But it’s my career. I might see these people again

As long as you give 2 week notice, you shouldn’t have to worry. But if you don’t trust your boss to stay in line, it is ok to use another employee that you worked with closely as a reference
