aita for calling my mom selfish? I was talking about how that one politician in NYC blocked off a bunch of roads infront of schools so kids can play soccer together. She started complaining about how annoying it is to have some roads blocked off and only-

Cared about how it's negativity affecting drivers. I reminded her that it's a way to bring the community together especially because not every school has a field for soccer in the city. She just kept complaining about how people now need to go out of their way to avoid said roads and that no one should be inconvenienced, even if it's only temporary and can do more good than bad. So I said that that's a very selfish way to think.

I get the importance of giving kids that experience. Why does it have to be on the roads though? Also are they building fields on the roads or are they just letting the kids dive onto the tar?

I will say, name calling is not nice but it's been really frustrating. I've been volunteering with youth organizations in my area and my mom always has something negative to say about them whenever we ask for help from the community.

No it's just street soccer. Just playing in the street like we used to do as kids, only this time the streets are protected from traffic. And I'm pretty sure it's to make the games more accessible since there are only so many fields in NYC
