Hmmm sounds a little strange yeah. Most of the time it takes me a few conversations to even bring up that I'm gay, and only if it actually becomes relevant. I might mention it if it's in a joking manner or if I want to gauge if it's a friendly environment for me? The person could also be newly out and proud of it, as well.
