This post is a few days old but I’ll throw out that I read the webcomic and the illustrations are astounding. That was probably the spear-tip of its star power at the time of publication. The thing with the story I most enjoyed is that I felt the power scaling didn’t get out of hand. Everything scaled with Jin-Woo throughout the story so the stakes consistently felt high.

From what I gathered of the tepid reaction to the show by the end of the first season, chances are because a lot of people have seen plenty of other shows to compare it to. In a sense, it’s kinda like Sword Art Online. Flashy but admittedly generic when you watch more shows. But both SL and SAO do work well as intro animes. That in particular will be my hill to die on.

The other part of criticism I noticed comes from the adaptation apparently cutting characters and/or arcs but I have only seen two episodes and read reviews/ comments. To which, if true, I would say: Whack.
