I finally started Vinland saga after putting it off for years and I’m really not sure about it. It feels like it can’t decide whether it wants to be serious historical fiction or shonen power fantasy

Read the manga. It’s 10x better. I couldn’t finish the anime, but genuinely enjoyed the manga

Thorfinn easily defeats men with a foot and 50lbs on him with a serious range disadvantage by the dozen, Thorkell slings trees around like it’s nothing, the fights all move way too fast, it just feels weightless and tropey

Causes they want the fights to be crazy cause it’s anime. So they over exaggerate everything. The action isn’t supposed be realistic. But that’s not what power fantasy means. Power fantasy is stuff like solo leveling, where a normal (or weak) guy gets powers and becomes cool.
