Funny enough, in the manga, the creator makes this self insert character arguing with a straw man about how the fan service is a good thing, and anyone that hates it is just jealous or sexually frustrated.

If you skip the chapters with Tamaki and whoever her rival was it’s fine. It’s been awhile but I think the fan service gets limited just to her
