Why do people refuse to hold Oda (One Piece creator) accountable for praising and hanging out with predators? It really is disappointing

Because people don’t seperate art from artist. They think because they made the story they like that he can do no wrong.

Not trying to defend Oda but can you clarify what you mean by praising predators? As far as I’m aware he just said he had a good time working with the author of Rurouni Kenshin, and he said that almost 10 years ago, nothing beyond that. So yea kinda disappointing to see him not denounce the author but it’s not like Oda himself is a pedo or anything.

Unfortunately he has made statements about Kenshin’s author in 2021 and this year, including tribute art. His statements are about the author being an amazing person, hoping he makes manga forever, and mentioning a fan group meetup. He has also recently inserted some OP background pirates based on him. There’s another mangaka I’ve been hearing thrown into the mix that I need read about, but everything about Oda’s relationship with the Kenshin is 100% confirmed and it’s bad enough with one.

For context, Kenshin’s author was caught in 2017 and was welcomed back to work after a fine equivalent to ~$1500-1900

I haven’t seen those statements but I’ll take your word for it, I did see the tribute art though and there were a bunch of mangakas who made them so didn’t think much of it, mad respect to araki tho, love his tribute
