I could definitely see where you are coming from. I watch mostly shounen just because it keeps my attention longer compared to others. And shounen doesn’t have the greatest reputation when it comes to female characters. But I think when people are trying to talk about this topic usually it’s in the shounen genre because it’s more widespread. Shojo and others definitely has well written female characters that have beautiful stories.

women are treated like pets in their culture unfortunately if you admit it or not. 50% of women are assaulted by age 14. they just changed their age of consent from 13 to 16 which is disgustingly.

But for me it’s easier to mostly talk about shounen characters because that’s the first that come to mind. It’s hard for me to compare the two because they are completely separate in my mind like they have different things that I’m looking for when watching. But that’s just my opinion 🤷‍♀️

…. We might be thinking of a different character (HxH) but Kurapika is a boy? 😂

Nah nah I thought he was a girl? In Phantom Troupe arc, Chrollo says, “I can’t believe the chain user is a woman”. Plus we NEVER see kurapika topless nor in tight clothing. So she’s probably a girl. That’s what convinced me. You gotta admit, though, Biscuit is a BEAST

he THOUGHT kurapika was a woman, then kurapika says something like “i didn’t think looks would fool you” then take his wig off

I LOVE Biscuit she is one of my favorite characters in the show! Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too because everyone assumes that he his a girl but isn’t actually. I feel like they make a joke/address it in the anime but I can’t remember 😅

honestly tho if you want to look at well written, strong HxH women, look at Machi and Shizuku from the troupe. the author took stereotypical “woman” roles like cleaning and sewing and made them into some of the most busted characters in the show, especially Machi. there’s obv more to their characters but it can be something you can look into deeper if that’s something you like.

I loveddd Shizuku and Machi so much. I always wanted Machi’s nen ability cause healing and the nen sewing would be so handy.
