Fr I think we just don’t usually get swept into only consuming the shounen hype train. I think guys tend to avoid anime that looks even remotely like it could be targeted towards women, even if they are shounen/seinen series (take The Case Study of Vanitas, Bungou Stray Dogs, or Moriarty the Patriot for example)
As a guy I’ve learned not to judge anime by their covers cuz I’ve seen plenty of shows that look to be targeted at women and we’re definitely not. Like Banana Fish, Vampire Night, Madoka. All good shows. I can’t remember what was the first show that changed my mind on that cuz it was probably over a decade ago but atp I’ll watch any and everything if it’s good
Yesss. VK was so weird but I fell in love with Kaname and Zero and Yuki’s personalities. I hate that it got taboo later on in the serious. I finished the manga recently and the anime finished only about halfway into the manga. The manga is so much better it’s crazy. I’m kinda embarrassed that I love it that much but I can’t help it 😭.
Ok cool cool just wanted to make sure. So Kaname isn’t even Yuki’s brother. He’s the progenitor of the Kuran family which means he’s her ancestor. The story is that he was hibernating in a coffin under the Kuran estate for a couple hundred years and Yuki’s uncle woke him up and Kaname was fed Yuki’s baby brother. Kaname hadn’t drunk blood in so long that he had to revert to a baby to stay alive because that was all the blood he consumed from Yuki’s brother.
So they aren’t even brother and sister. I did some looking into it and because the Kurans keep it in the family to remain pure blooded, that means Yuki and Kaname are genetically somewhat cousins. It’s still nasty and incesty, but this gave me a tiniest bit of relief since it was no longer immediate family. Still gross though
