I love Shoujo and romance for female audiences. The writing and characters are almost always good and the plot is always good asf. And most of the time there isn’t any gooner content.

See that’s usually a good mixed audience
Once u get too female of an audience u end up with redo of healer or rance

What romance animes would you consider to be poorly written?

Horimiya, Bunny girl senpai, beastars, rent a girlfriend

Haven’t seen Beastars, Rent is certified shit, I slightly agree with the Bunny Girl Senpai but Horimiya is a HELL NO for me.
As a romance connoisseur as well, Horimiya is one of the most natural romance stories with little to no fanservice and not a lot of anime bullshit.

The characters weren’t fleshed out very well, but that’s just my opinion ofc. Then again, I watched it when I was still in HS and I have grown a lot since then. So maybe I’ll give it another shot.

What you said would be my opinion for Blue Box tho
I hope you do. I think they’re better fleshed out than most average “feel good” romances these days. I thought the dub was better on setting that vibe and did it perfectly

I haven’t watched blue box yet but I’ll check it out. I honestly haven’t enjoyed a new romance since the fruits basket reboot
