I was watching a certain *ahem* anime from the 90s/early 2000s and it made me depressed about how sloppy animation has gone. We used to have shadows, colors, physics, wind, strands of hair, tan skin, etc. now we just have slop 😭
Animation styles have changed to include cgi. Trust me you’re complaining about animation style being the same while others are shouting why it hasn’t changed. You’re a small minority.

I’m pretty sure they could only include all that extra detail because the conditions for the animators were so cruel back then. They’re still treated badly now, but back then it was A LOT worse

I feel like you just have to know where to look. Mob psycho, studio trigger, mappa, even recent ghibli stuff, there’s still good animation being made

I’m complaining that recent animation sucks and there used to be so much more soul and color and general better animation within animes 😭.

I think Mappa studio is maybe the closest to what it was like back in the 90s/2000s. In terms of frames/second, details in animation, and color.

If they want to stay on schedule and make money, either the animation or the animators generally have to suffer

Yeah and I’d rather an anime take longer to come out with good work conditions than fast and bad or fast with overworking.

I love Ghibli so much! I will look into studio trigger as I haven’t heard of it before

I guess the main problem is that high quality anime with good work conditions and slow releases tend to not make as much money as the faster, cheaper looking ones

Yeah you’re totally right. I’m just sad about it 😭

I recommend cyberpunk edge runners and delicious in dungeon! Both absolutely incredible shows
