Am I the only one who hated demon slayer after realizing how hypersexualized all the women were? I stopped watching after the sister went demon mode the first time and her boobs grew???

you guys are looking into this wayyyy too deep😭 she grew bigger to fight better but still had the same clothes on as when she was small (she was small so she could fit in the box on tanjiros back)

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE TALKS ABT DEMON SLAYERS CRAZY MISOGYNY PROBLEM. i stuck w it all the way to reading the manga finale bc my mom loves it (for some reason) and though i think it has great potential, the insane disrespect towards women amongst other things bothered me the entire way through. like sure nezuko gets power ups and the butterfly ladies exist but if the mangaka truly respected women then zenitsu and harem hashira whatever his name is would be VEEEEERY DIFFERENT at the ABSOLUTE LEAST

Most anime oversexualize women period. Im not saying it’s right, but it is typical. Demon slayer is a great anime in spite of the disservice to female characters, which again, is prevalent in anime

i feel like i only get this heated abt demon slayer bc i feel like it could’ve been so great and i legit really like the art style and the different elemental sword techniques and the concept of breathing as a magical ability and the demon corp hierarchy and stuff like that, it’s just the misogyny really truly ruins it for me. like nezuko is SO COOL and she just sits there so unused by the plot??? same w harem guy’s 3 wives????? i could go on

and as for u buddy the author is literally a woman😭 tengens wives were selected FOR him to ensure lineage continuation, not because he’s collecting them or whatever nonsense u made up in ur head. from the rest of ur response i can tell you actually had no clue what was going on in the show or barely paid attention.

it’s a watsonian vs doylist issue, author decisions and in-universe explanations can be looked at separately. even if the reasoning checks out, people can still question why the author chose to write it like that

nezuko isn’t even a character she’s a plot object that just happens to be shaped like a human 😭

if they’re questioning that they have an iq of 4. it’s not a big plot point or even anything significant

my brother pointed out that if nezuko were a dog the plot would remain almost the same and he is so right it’s INSANE

yeah you guys did NOT watch the show 😭 she helped defeat rui and if she didn’t, the show would’ve ended right there on ep 19. she was also the most important part in developing the drug used to poison muzan, which was arguably the only reason they won. u guys are trying to find the smallest things to nitpick when they aren’t even there. without nezuko the show would have turned out MUCH differently

i didn’t say she wasn’t part of the plot, she has barely any development as a character. like could you even come up with 2 personality traits, a like/dislike, and a motivation? beyond just “loves tanjiro” or “doesn’t like the bad guys that kill people” or “runs away from the designated perv”

sure. she’s kind hearted and resilient, resisting her demon instincts and protecting humans, and her motivation is to protect tanjiro and find a way to become human again.

Nezuko was literally the reason Tanjiro was able to slice through Rui’s neck and her exploding blood destroyed the strands to save him. Tell me you didn’t actually watch or understand the show without watching

Hell Im literally rewatching it and do you not remember Nezuko literally going bar for bar with the Temari demon?? Literally the only reason her leg got blown off was bc she underestimated how much strength she had to use, that’s why once her leg grew back she immediately kicked it away

And her whole presence adds so much to Tamayo’s character as well because Nezuko showed the demon slayers (Giyu) firsthand how they aren’t all the same. They’re complaining bc they couldn’t comprehend the show most people do that with things they don’t understand
