Can we talk about how some arcs in one piece are COMPLETELY filler? Like, I watched almost 400 episodes and I’m just finding out that some of it was completely filler?!?!

Ngl this is the biggest reason why I haven’t picked it up. My boyfriend really wants me to watch it but it’s a huuuge commitment. The longest anime I’ve watched is bleach. He’s admitted I’d have to watch it on my own because of how long it is and how much filler there is

The crazy part is only 8% (94 episodes) out of the first 1,100 episodes is considered filler.

Watch one pace and you save like 46hours

Yeah dude I just skip the filler cause it doesn’t go anywhere like the one arc with the Mexican pirates

do u mean the actual filler or are u calling canon arcs filler?

Fake news entire filler arcs are in bleach and Naruto the most filler in one piece is the occasional special episode

They’re about to make movies for the arcs that matter so this is about to become a lot easier to start and finish.

A quick google search shows that OP contains very little pure filler episodes (relative to the length of the story), the issue is the pacing and the filler moments to stretch out the canon content. One pace is a pretty good way to avoid those moments, or reading the manga which you can find in color. There’s a lot of nonsense in this comment section lol

Isn’t the point of one piece that it’s all filler?

What?

I haven’t watched much of it but my friend said its basically all filler cause the point of the show is “the journey not the destination”

Nah I quit watching it a year ago. It’s just crazy that I thought most of the arcs were canon

The point of the journey being the most important part is correct, but I take issue with the description of that being filler. The term filler would imply those parts of the story to be worthless and without effect on the progression of the story at large. Every arc of One Piece (barring the actual anime only filler) has value whether it be development of characters or laying groundwork for future events.

I only started it cause I was in HS and needed something to listen to while doing homework. I put it on dub and listened to it and I got to 380 in a school year. So don’t be intimidated by it if that’s what is stopping you

Aren’t some arcs completely filler? I read somewhere online all the filler episodes and some arcs were listed. WAIT WAS I STUPID?

no there are arcs that are complete filler some people just call some canon arcs “filler” and skip them lol

I see. Yeah it just blew my mind cause I knew One Piece had filler, but I never even imagined entire arcs could be filler. Like that was insane when I figured that out

I mean, you could watch like 40 or 50 better-paced and better-written shows in that time, so that’s a completely valid reason lol

Its not true tho, long ring island and skypeia are most commonly skipped but they are canon and important to the story. No canon arcs are filler, filler arcs are filler and u can find them easily on a filler website.

That being said some canon episodes includes filler for the pure reason of it being an anime adaptation. Sometimes it just doesnt flow as well. I wouldnt quit one piece bc of that propaganda lol. People also j tweaked out because oda loosely said the story is really starting now. So people j be doing the most and try to hate on it when they can.

I actually really enjoyed Skypeia. I was on the brink of stopping when I hit skypeia and Enel (eneru) was such a fun villain so I pushed through more and I enjoyed Thriller Bark as well. Shockingly, I couldn’t stand the water 8/Ernie’s lobby arcs. It was awful. I also quit one piece just cause I tried so long to like the show, but I just couldn’t take the pacing. The most I think I’d do is read the manga once the author finishes it

Is long ring island the one where they get stuck in the military place and Sanji teaches that one boy how to make curry? I don’t think filler arcs should even be a thing. I can understand bits of season filler, but entire arcs are just ridiculous.

One piece overall is very little filler compared to other shows. Granted the later seasons have TERRIBLE pacing. Once you get to Dressrosa, it’s better to watch One Pace (which is FREE to watch btw, mostly in sub AND dub), or just wait for the remake by Wit Studios to come out
