I feel like there is a difference between liking a character and liking the writing around a character, like I think Naoya is a pretty well written character. He’s the perfect embodiment of how Maki suffered under the Zenin family’s extreme traditionalism. And if at least for nothing else it was satisfying to see his face get smashed in.
