“Fan service” is in almost every show it’s not just an Anime thing. Euphoria had Sydney Sweeney who is only popular for her big boobs. Trash reality tv has fan service moments all the time ie Love Island. Sex sells it always has and always will

That doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. I think the problem with fan service in anime is how unnecessary and randomly it is added in.

They do that in regular TV shows all the time. Not just Euphoria. How many times does a ripped guy have his shirt off and it adds nothing to the show. An episode of Outer Banks went viral on social media when Sarah and John B were running a lot in the episode because Sarah’s Boobs were bouncing. Crime shows have fan service in their episodes as well. Bones, Castle, Law and Order.

Or when it’s fan service of a clearly underaged character or the fan service in question involves someone being sexually harassed by another character.

Yes I’m aware 😭 I’m agreeing with #1 that it’s not necessarily a good thing in either medium, especially under those circumstances
