The thing with Mushoku Tensei and Rudeus is, he is a flawed character. That story has a bunch of flawed characters. That’s the whole point of the story. For them to learn to be better. You’re not supposed to initially like them.

😭when I seen this mentally grown man reach under a 9 or however old she was girl skirt I was out. Don’t care if he is real that’s just real weird for me to continue to watch. If it was like a grown lady then I would’ve kept watching maybe idk. There is a thing about imperfection but also just downright horrible. Ppl have a right to not want to watch it anymore

The thing is for me in real life if someone did that once I would wish them to the darkest reaches of hell so why would I want to watch a show with a character who did it? Everyone has flaws but touching underage girls is NOT a flaw that’s gross

People are so overly sensitive these days that a raw, realistic, imperfect character like Rudeus throws them off and they can’t look at it.

While I somewhat agree, he was physically a child and even later both in the show and books he mentioned that because of his new body he started having childish tendencies. She’s older than him in that world and kids do shit like that sometimes. I’m not saying what he did was right at all cuz I don’t fuck with it. But I also know it’s a fictional story written in a way that I’m not supposed to like the character at that point and I’m supposed to think he’s a piece of shit.

You act like the whole story is him going in toddlers underwear and stuff no.

You’re absolutely right and I agree cuz I would do the same. I’ve cut off friends if I ever heard they did something to a woman. But in real life if he was the same character all you would’ve seen was a child do it to a child older than them. You’d have no idea he was reincarnated. That’s my point here. As viewers we have that insight because it’s a story. But don’t take it out the context of the story. It was like a 2 second clip, and he doesn’t do stuff like that later on as he grows

I wasn’t saying that’s the whole story all I said was ur acting like it’s not ok for ppl to want to drop the show at that point. Sorry I had to see that even a young child doing it to an older one in an anime I don’t want to watch that. That is the reason why I dropped it. I don’t want to continue something that has that in it. Like u can respect ppl for dropping Dan da Dan. Ppl don’t want to watch a story with that in it.

Dawg all im sayin is read the books or watch episodes past that 10 second clip. Yall extra sensitive over some imaginary story in an imaginary world. I’d understand if he went off and molested/raped/harassed every girl/woman he ran into all while and even after growing up but that’s not the case. There are WAY worse things that happen in anime than what happens in this show for ppl to jus be like naw im good on episode like 2

She literally told him way before that she’d be okay with him having more than one. Not saying it’s right but once again different world different culture cuz literally everyone around him told him having more than one wife in that world was okay and something that happens. Because it’s FICTION. Matter fact he wasn’t even thinking about the other one until everyone else was like you know rudeus this is okay to do

Sorry I don’t want to watch that stuff and WAY worse anime is supposed to make me like the show? All I’m saying is it’s ok for people not to want to watch it and are disgusted by the show. I don’t talk about the show out of the blue only when someone brings it up. I’ll share my distaste for it

She was. She was around the age of 44-48 at that time. They live 2.5x longer than humans. So divide her age by 2.5 and she’s actually a young adult. Their species body doesn’t develop like humans

Eris was not that age she is a human and rudeus was her teacher. Her parents said she was in the age range of 9-12 I can’t remember the age season 1

i get that there’s nothing inherently wrong with an edgy work of fiction, it’s not wrong for the story to exist. however, it’s ok for people who are uncomfortable with the content to dislike the story, and i dont think the show did a good job of showcasing the redemption of a horrible person. the balance of bad actions to serious consequences felt off to me, even if there were technically in-universe reasons. i think we could’ve seen stronger growth if his actions were taken more seriously

like i said it’s not the actions themselves, it’s how the story minimizes them. you’re not supposed to root for shou tucker. you’re supposed to be proud of rudy, but he never really grasps just how much his behavior hurts others. imagine if shou tucker felt bad for a while and then moved on to join ed and al, people would’ve hated it. it’s like the complaints about how orochimaru got away with everything, that stuff is too heavy to leave behind like it’s simply a character flaw

Ah okay I see, that does make more sense. While I do feel he does start to grasp how his actions hurt other as the story goes on, I can understand where you’re coming from in the sense that it’s not necessarily focused on like shou was. I don’t agree with any of the things Rudy has done whatsoever and if he was in our world it’d be a completely different conversation.

But i mean before he died he legit stayed in his room and eventually the parents just gave up on him. He did shut himself in and essentially runaway from everything, but also the parents were pretty passive in disciplining him and setting him straight, so he never really “grew”. In this new world, yes he has his parents, but he’s only with them extremely briefly and not only that he doesn’t even interact with anyone till silvie.

His mom who would be the one to teach him right, had nothing to necessarily teach cuz he never interacted with anyone or did anything to really cause trouble. The one time he did cause trouble was to protect silvie and his dad is a piece of shit of an example so he had to teach his dad a lesson. Basically this whole time he’s had no one to actually guide him in what’s right or wrong and he’s had to learn them all by himself. Which he is while extremely slowly lol

I say all that to say I agree with everyone about how he’s done a lot of shit and not necessarily felt what we feel was enough consequences. But the story has its setting and context so just seeing the bad stuff without thinking about all the cause and effect that does exist seems like parts of the story are being missed.
