For the people who call anime or live action adaptations “woke” what is wrong with yall seriously!? Especially with one piece!? It’s been progressive. Literally one of the biggest points is taking down the corrupt government 😭😭

😭😭😭💀🤣 The character is literally already drawn just find someone who looks like them it is not that hard. I think they do this on purpose now because it’ll get talked more about how badly they fucked up something so easy. Negativity is more popular than positivity

Did you say anything when Scarlet Johansson played as Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in a Shell? If not, why? That was a Japanese character being played by a white person. That’s not okay. In this case it’s blackwashing simple as that and it’s wrong.

The fact that there’s people in the comments throwing a tantrum about this too is crazy to me.

Both cases are disgusting tbh. I refuse to watch ghost because its insensitive and i dont want to watch this either because they cant just keep it faithful to the og. Its gross

this isn’t hollywood interference, oda is directly involved in casting. he gives input and signs off on every choice. it’s like how he said usopp would be south african, cast a black actor to play him, but then draws him pale in color spreads. pale characters in one piece are just part of the palette, not a one to one depiction of race. oda just wanted the live action to reflect the real world inspirations for alabasta

JK Rowling did the same thing with the countless mini spinoff musicals or whatever the hell they were. Doesn’t matter if it’s Hollywood or Oda himself, don’t deviate from the source material.

‘People in the comments throwing a tantrum’ aka people I disagree with but I can’t articulate a reasonable counter argument so I’ll just be a coward and insult them instead
