As a gay man, I feel like I have such a strong support system with my girl friends. I can talk about feelings and even cry in front of them. I’m curious, do you guys feel like straight men have that level of friendship or no because they have to “man up”?

We have that kind of friendship but it’s a mix of still wanting to man up and also we don’t want to burden the people around us

As a Hispanic man. I’ve never had that. Even since I was a boy, I was expected to man up…

As a queer man, I feel pretty unsupported by both my straight and queer friends, man or women, the vast majority of the time. I feel like im not allowed to get upset with them or ask for more support, in case they will just abandon me

I can talk about stuff with my friends, I just don’t cry in front of them as I rarely cry at all

I was telling my friend about how my gf cheated on me and then he laughed because he was watching a YouTube video while I told him so no, not really

I think this is a good point. Many girls and guys are not good at supporting/feel burdened when people vent/complain
